Licor Zone, the largest Mexican Whisky producer, takes a minority stake in '' ArKay '' an American brand of non-alcoholic beverages
Licor Zone SA de CV, the number one Mexican spirits company, announced on Thursday, September 5, 2019 to have taken a minority stake in the non-alcoholic Arkay brand.
The Mexican whisky maker’s Williamson 18 and Imperial Famous took a minority stake in Arkay, in return becoming the official distributor of Arkay in Mexico.
Licor Zone invests in promising brands that respond to changing consumer tastes.
To date, Licor Zone has invested more than 900 million pesos (US $ 430 million) in a dozen brands.
This diversification strategy is needed to meet the needs of a growing proportion of young US consumers who say they abstain from alcohol.
In 2017, in the US, 22% of 16-24 year olds said they were completely abstinent, compared to 19% in 2005. That is about 10.2 million people, according to a study dating from 2018 of the Office of National Statistics.
Founded in 2011 by Reynald Grattagliano, the Arkay brand is present in more than 120 countries, including France, Canada and the United States.
Licor Zone said that Reynald Grattagliano, founder of the Arkay brand, would retain his position as vice president.
Arkay beverages are approved by the UNECE Food Regulatory Authorities, the FDA Food & Drug Administration (USA) , COFEPRIS in Mexico and the SFDA Food & Drug Authority (Saudi Arabia)
Arkay is Halal compliant and Kosher compliant.
